Residential Services
Our residential services are designed to provide holistic, high-quality, 24-hour care in a loving, home-like environment. Based on the individual needs of the residents, services and programs may include: medical services, special education, physical therapy, vocation and daily skills training, speech, music, horticulture and creative arts therapy. These facilities include:
Morrow Center, a Specialized Community Residential Center named in honor of Holy Angels’ first resident Maria Morrow, provides round-the-clock physical care and services for children age birth to 21 years.
McAuley Residences, Intermediate Care Facilities, serving both children and adults, include: Moody Place and Belhaven (15 beds each) and Brookview, Pinehaven and Oakcrest (6 beds each).
Holy Angels has Community Group Homes serving adults with mild to moderate intellectual developmental disabilities who may also have delicate medical conditions. The homes Gary and Carrabaun (located on the Holy Angels property) and Lakewood and South Point (located in the Belmont community) provide needed support and are designed to allow each resident to attain his or her highest level of independence.
Medical Services
Medical services for children and adult residents are best served in Holy Angels 24 hour programs due to their mental and physical disabilities, as well as their medical fragility.
Holy Angels Fisher Health Care Center allows our nursing team to monitor residents with state-of-the-art technology and provide around the clock care that includes heart-rate monitoring, EKG, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, portable X-ray/ultrasounds and emergency medicine for seizure.
The Fisher Health Care Center helps our angels stay home in the loving care of the Holy Angels family and avoid hundreds of days of hospitalizations saving families and taxpayers a significant amount of money.
Our Curlin Clinic, named after Bishop Curlin, is equipped to support our residents and physicians across the following specialties: Primary Care Physician, Pulmonology, Orthopedics, Adult Gastroenterology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Dental, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Urology, Neurology, Physiatry, Physiatry and Neurosurgery
Special Education
Our Special Education program is tailored and designed for each individual student. Teachers create and maintain and Individualized Education Program (IEP) for every student. Curriculum and materials are adapted to meet the needs of the students within the program. Utilizing state-of-the-art interactive white boards, students can get hands on training in math, reading and writing. The focus is to educate each student based on levels and abilities.
Spiritual Growth
Inspired by our history with the Sisters of Mercy, Holy Angels is committed to providing opportunities for Spiritual Growth for our residents, their families, our staff and volunteers. Serving a diverse faith community, we offer Chaplain Services, Sunday prayer services, memorial services and one-on-one spiritual guidance and grief counseling. Each day, we celebrate Mercy Moments, those special moments that capture the heart of Holy Angels and the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy. An annual highlight, our residents perform their own unique and inspiring telling of the Nativity during Christmas Mass.
Active Treatment
Active treatment refers to specialized programming for individuals with intellectual development disabilities. The purpose is to teach new skills and prevent regression of skills to enhance overall independence and quality of life. Active treatment is incorporated throughout the individual’s day; in all aspects of their life including daily living, self-care, vocational, and leisure activities. The particular goals are developed based on each resident’s individual needs.
Great Adventures
Since 1990, Great Adventures has offered adults with and without intellectual developmental disabilities from the local community. Meetings are held once a month and provide the members with the opportunity to get together for recreational, social, service and spiritual experiences. Through Great Adventures, along with the LifeChoices adult day program, Holy Angels provides community outreach services to individuals and families in need of support.
Life Choices
To support adults with intellectual developmental disabilities age 21 or over who live in the community, Holy Angels offers a LifeChoices Adult Day Activity program designed specifically to promote individual adaptive, social and emotional skills, as well as personal independence. Activities include a variety of life skills training such as money management, health and safety, academics and home economics. Additionally, participants explore and develop abilities in special areas; such as horticulture, music, art and more.
Vocational Opportunities
Holy Angels owns and operates three businesses located on Main Street in downtown Belmont: Cherubs Café, Cotton Candy Factory and Bliss Gallery. These businesses, along with the Spruced Goose Station in McAdenville, provide competitive employment opportunities to persons with all levels of abilities in an integrated work environment. This also allows our crew members to be a part of the community in which they live. The businesses help our guests to learn about individuals with intellectual disabilities and to witness first hand their abilities. Any profits from sales are used solely to fund the programs and services of Holy Angels.
