Emberley’s light shines brightly each time she has music therapy with Jessica.
At Holy Angels, every story begins with a simple, yet profound act of faith. In 1955, the Sisters of Mercy said "yes" when they were asked to take in Maria Morrow, our very first resident. Maria’s mother had nowhere else to turn for help, but the Sisters trusted that love, care and faith would provide the foundation she needed to thrive. That first courageous "yes" laid the groundwork for countless lives touched by Holy Angels since.
Last year, Holy Angels was again called to say "yes" — this time to a little girl named Emberley.
Before coming to Holy Angels, Emberley’s first seven months of life were spent in the NICU and then in and out of the hospital receiving palliative care. Doctors were unsure what her future might hold, and her family was in search of help — seeking a place where Emberley could not only be cared for but also truly flourish. When Holy Angels was approached, we answered with the same faith-filled spirit the Sisters of Mercy embodied decades ago. Since her arrival last February, Emberley has found both a home, and a place to shine.
Who can resist that smile? Emberley radiates joy in all that she does.
Emberley just turned 2 years old, and she already has a larger-than-life personality that fills every room she enters. She adores music, story time and being the center of attention — and we wouldn’t have it any other way! In a video shared at our Holy Angels Got Talent Gala, Emberley stole hearts at the show. Featured in a special video highlighting our Music Therapy program, she captured hearts with her joy as she focused on reaching for the guitar strings as her therapist, Jessica, strummed along. Music has become a vital part of Emberley’s journey in encouraging her to reach her highest potential.
Today, Emberley is thriving in ways once unimaginable. She is growing, learning and inspiring everyone she meets. As we look ahead, her family is excited for the future — a future that includes moving into one of our new children’s homes as part of the Children’s Campus Expansion project.
Emberley’s story reminds us of the incredible power of faith, love, and saying "yes." Just as Maria Morrow’s life began a legacy of compassion at Holy Angels, Emberley’s journey continues to inspire us all to open our hearts and embrace what is possible.
