"Under the Carolina Skies" Art Exhibition

Art Exhibit: “Under the Carolina Skies” at Bliss Gallery

📍 Location: Bliss Gallery, 25 N. Main Street, Belmont, NC

We hope you’ll join us for the opening reception Thursday, April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliss Gallery, 25 N. Main Street, Belmont, NC

“Under Carolina Skies” features Gaston County Art Guild En Plein Air painters from April 3 through May 10. The term “En Plein Air” comes from the French phrase meaning "in the open air." This method became especially popular with the Impressionists, who sought to capture natural light, atmosphere, and fleeting moments in their work.

En Plein Air artists work quickly to capture the changing conditions of light, weather, and movement in nature using portable materials, such as easels, lightweight canvases, and a limited palette of paints, making it easier to travel and paint on location. The approach emphasizes spontaneity, direct observation, and a connection to the environment.

This exhibition features artwork created by Holy Angels resident artists Tom, Cheryl, Mike, Elise, Lorraine, and Chris.

Join us at Meadow Wood Farms, one of the most beautiful locations in this area, to help us raise money for our angels!  Sponsorship levels are available as well as team and individual spots.  Teams rotate through 13 stations and have the opportunity to shoot a Flurry of 50 clays.

Taking Root is a captivating new exhibition at Bliss Gallery, showcasing artwork from nature-conscious artists whose works reflect the beauty and resilience of the natural world. This special exhibition features incredible pieces from guest artists Anne Cowie, Regina Bos, and Teri Fridley, alongside stunning artwork created by the talented residents of Holy Angels including Mary Ellen, Mike, Maria, Tom, Amy, James, Drew, Elise and Taylor.

Join us for the Opening Reception on January 23 from 6–8 PM! Meet the artists, explore the exhibition, and enjoy an evening of art and inspiration. Admission is free, and all are welcome!

Featured Artists:

  • Anne Cowie – Calligraphy, abstract art, and mixed media with sewn elements. Winner of Best in Show at the 2022 Visual Harvest Art Show at Gaston College.

  • Regina Bos – Specializes in encaustic work, bringing texture and depth to her nature-inspired pieces.

  • Teri Fridley – Works extensively with paper, creating intricate and textured compositions.

Join us for "An Evening of Unlimited Possibilities" as Holy Angels residents take stage to share their remarkable talents. The evening will be filled with numerous activities including heavy Hors D'oeuvres, craft cocktails and special guest experiences, silent and live auctions, dancing and much more.

Be a part of Holy Angels mission of loving, living and learning for the differently able by supporting this amazing fundraising event hosted at the Performing Arts Center at Charlotte Catholic School.

“A Fall Collective” Art Exhibit at Bliss Gallery

Bliss Gallery Exhibit “A Fall Collective”

Exhibit runs Friday, September 20th, beginning at 5pm until November 9, 2024, at Bliss Gallery.

You're invited to the opening reception of our next exhibit at Bliss Gallery, "A Fall Collective." Admission is free of charge.

FEATURING McAdenville Artists Workshop & Friends, including May Barger, Carol Carstarphen, Lisa Livengood, Martha Manco, Jane Pearson, Greg Price, Carol Stowe-Rankin and Bob Williamson.

Holy Angels’ resident artists include Chris, Elise, Katie, Landon, Maria, Mary Ellen and Thomas.

 

The Bliss Gallery is owned and operated by Holy Angels, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to caring for children and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions.

Holy Angels established Bliss Gallery to offer persons who are differently able the opportunity to share creative abilities and showcase their art alongside the works of guests artists during special exhibitions.
